The silicone brush bands are produced of natural rubber with a silicone admixture: this provides elasticity at temperatures below zero and UV-protection. The bands contain a hydrophobic compound, which creates a water-repelling coating on the windshield just after the first sweep. The designed lifetime of the silicone wipers is 3 million sweeps, twice more than the lifetime of conventional rubber wipers.
